The central government told the Parliament on Thursday that more than 23,800 people have got property ownership rights in Delhi so far under the PM-UDAY scheme. Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Tokhan Sahu said in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha on Thursday that till July 16 this year, a total of 23,811 people have got ownership rights of their properties under the Pradhan Mantri Delhi Awas Adhikar Yojana (PM-UDAY) in unauthorized colonies.

Minister Tokhan Sahu said that the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has received 1,22,729 applications for ownership rights under PM-UDAY. The minister said that till July 16, the number of people who have received ownership rights under the PM-UDAY scheme is 23,811.

Let us tell you that in 2019, the Union Cabinet had approved the proposal to give ownership rights to the people living in unauthorized colonies of Delhi. Later, the Parliament passed a bill to give ownership rights to the people living in these colonies.

After this, the central government started the PM-Uday scheme. Under this scheme, people living in these colonies can apply for ownership rights of their properties.

Responding to another question, Sahu said the DDA has reported that it has disbursed an amount of Rs 2,173.81 crore for its projects sanctioned under the Urban Development Fund (UDF) during the last five years (2019-20 to 2023-24). He said as per available reports, 22 projects under UDF are in the implementation stage.
