Car News Desk – China is rapidly increasing its presence in the electric vehicle segment. The company has developed battery technology that charges quickly and gives more range. Last year, China's Bestune brand Xiaomi launched a small electric. With this car, the company wants to increase its share in the micro-EV segment. FAW Bestune Xiaomi will compete directly with Wuling Hongguang Mini EV. Micro electric cars are in the highest demand in China. The price of Bestune Xiaomi is between 30,000 to 50,000 yuan (about Rs 3.47 lakh to Rs 5.78 lakh). It is expected that it will be brought to the Indian market soon. It will compete directly with Tata Tiago EV and MG Comet EV.

FAW introduced the Bestune Xiaomi at the Shanghai Auto Show in April in early 2023. Both its hardtop and convertible variants were introduced. At present, the hardtop variant is on sale. It is not decided whether the convertible variant will be brought for sale in the future. This car also has touchscreen infotainment, which is a 7-inch unit. The dashboard has an attractive dual-tone theme. The Xiaomi has a dual-tone color scheme, which looks straight out of an animation film. It has large square headlamps with rounded edges for a more attractive profile. The Xiaomi uses aerodynamic wheels which can be useful in increasing the range.

Bestune Shaoma is based on the FME platform. It includes EV and range extender dedicated chassis. Previously, a ride-hailing EV called NAT was built on this platform. The FME platform has two A1 and A2 sub-platforms. The A1 sub-platform caters to subcompacts and compacts that have a wheelbase of 2700-2850 mm. A2 is used for cars with a wheelbase of 2700-3000 mm. The range is more than 800Km for the EV and 1200Km for the extender. Both platforms support 800 V architecture.

There is a 20 kW electric motor to power the micro-EV. It is placed on the rear shaft. The battery used is a lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) unit, supplied by Goshan and REPT. More details about the powertrain are yet to be revealed. In terms of safety, the Bestune Xiaomi has a driver side airbag. It has 3-doors. The Bestune Xiaomi is 3000 mm long, 1510 mm wide and 1630 mm high. It has a wheelbase of 1,953 mm.
