Ernesto Reinares Varea, a self-described “wedding destroyer” from Spain, has put a unique spin on wedding preparation by making it a lucrative enterprise. Originally intended to be a humorous internet advertisement, Varea is now a successful business, having been hired to ruin weddings until the end of the year.

After Varea published a hilarious ad offering to object at weddings for anyone having second thoughts, his company took off. “Don’t worry anymore; I’ll object to your wedding if you have doubts or don’t want to get married and don’t know how to refuse,” the advertisement said. He was surprised to get genuine inquiries from both brides and grooms, which prompted him to start his unique business.

The method of sabotage is simple: customers only tell Varea when and where the wedding is taking place, and he will come there, protest the marriage, and brashly leave the scene while posing as the client’s true love, all for 500 euros (about Rs 47,000). Varea is ready to accept physical abuse from irate relatives and will charge an extra 50 euros for each punch that is thrown during the turmoil.

Due to the enormous demand for his services, Varea said that he is completely booked until December. “Until December, I have weddings scheduled,” he said in an interview with Newsflash.

Varea’s peculiar career has drawn a lot of interest and even sparked a discussion on Today on NBC. When talking about Varea’s line of work, co-hosts Jenna Bush Hager and Hoda Kotb both said they wouldn’t use such a service. Bush Hager said, “No, because you can just say, ‘I want to break up,'” but Kotb thought it was bizarre that “the weird guy” would interrupt a wedding.
