Hong Kong actress Anita Yuen makes tasting durian first priority upon arrival in Malaysia

Actress Anita Yuen disclosed in an interview that tasting durian was her first act upon arriving in Malaysia to film her new film “Mum’s Big News.”

According to The Starduring her interview with Sinchewthe actress also mentioned her first experience with asam laksa—a renowned Malaysian specialty made with mackerel—during her visit in July for the film shoot. She expressed a desire to visit the night market, noting that “some foods has to be hot and spicy for it to be enjoyable,” but her crew advised against it.

Yuen humorously shared the impact of her culinary explorations, noting a change in how her pants fit.

“I have a pair of pants which I could easily button up the first time I wore them,” she commented. “Now, I have to suck my stomach in to button it up!”

Yuen, 53, earned the Miss Photogenic title at the Miss Hong Kong 1990 pageant and was later the first runner-up at the Miss Chinese International 1991 pageant. She also participated in the Miss Universe 1991 pageant and made her acting debut in the same year.
