On September 20, The Cinema Day is being celebrated which means all the tickets are capped at Rs 99. And interestingly, the holdover release, the all-time blockbuster Stree 2 has turned out to be the biggest beneficiary of the offer.

According to a report in Box Office India, Stree 2 has shattered records on its sixth Friday zooming far ahead of the new releases like Yudhra.

The horror-comedy starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor witnessed the morning occupancy rate of 37.96 percent, according to Sacnilk.

The film has collected Rs 589.90 crore in 36 days and by day 37, the number is expected to be in the range of Rs 595 crore net.

The new release of the week is Yudhra starring Siddhant Chaturvedi, Malvika Mohanan and Raghav Juyal.

The action film directed by Ravi Udyawar of Mom fame has also taken a huge advantage of the Cinema Day as it sold 1.2 lakh tickets in advance booking and is now targeting Rs 3.5 to 4 crore opening day.

Reportedly, the morning show occupancy rate of Yudhra was 21.54 percent.

While the film has taken a decent start, it will be an uphill battle to see it sustain over the opening weekend considering the film released amid low buzz, zero face value for an action film to work with mass audiences and the mixed to negative response to the end product.

The Tumbbad re-release continues to surprise with strong trending. The film made Rs 13.44 crore in seven days of its release.

Interestingly, in its original run, Tumbbad had made Rs 13.57 crore. This means by day 8, the film will have done bigger biz in its re-release than the original run.

It is now on its way to hit Rs 20 crore mark and may end its run by Rs 25-30 crore lifetime.

This will take the total lifetime of original and re-release to over Rs 40 crore net in India.
