Ensuring proper food storage is essential to avoid mould and bacteria that can lead to serious health risks, while maintaining a safe kitchen environment for your family.

The dizzying array of guidelines can be baffling for many seeking to create a hygienic space for meal prep. In an eye-opening advisory, Melissa Kilcoyne from Virtual College, a leading provider of accredited training in food storage and hygiene, has highlighted a common refrigerated item as a potential breeding ground for mould.

"The majority of condiments that haven't been opened can be stored at room temperature in a cupboard, but once they have been opened, they should always be stored in a fridge." Melissa advises. She adds: "Shelves in the door are ideal for this kind of item, but otherwise you should store open condiments at the top of a fridge."

Melissa also recommends regular kitchen audits: "Make sure to clear these out every few months, to ensure they are not producing mould spores, which become airborne." Tiles play an unexpected role in kitchen hygiene, with weekly cleansing suggested for frequently used zones. Grout, notorious for harbouring unsightly grime and fostering mould growth, could compromise your kitchen's cleanliness, reports the Express.

To effortlessly resurrect your tiling, John Klee from Big Bathroom Shop reveals a straightforward cleaning hack using just two household staples, touting it as the "best homemade solution" for immaculately unblemished tiles. He advised: "Hydrogen peroxide can be used to remove tough grout stains, mould and mildew.

"Spray it on the affected area and leave for a few minutes and scrub with your choice of brush. You may have to repeat this step if it's a stubborn stain. No success? Make a baking soda and hydrogen peroxide paste and apply to the grout lines, scrub and rinse with warm water."
