Chief Minister of Delhi: This is the day when Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi will assume office as the youngest chief minister of Delhi after being appointed the CM-designate. At Raj Niwas, it would be the turn of the ministers in Council to take the oath.
People from the office of the lieutenant governor have reported that Arvind Kejriwal has resigned, and Droupadi Murmu as president has confirmed the appointment of Atishi as chief minister Delhi; this is from the day of her swearing in.
The approval of the appointments of the five ministers was done by the President as well and the time of the oath-taking ceremony, which would be held at Raj Niwas, was to be at 430 PM. Similarly, an AAP leader forecasts that the ceremony will be held in limited pomp and splendor because there is not much hope in the party with regard to Timing taking longer than expected, that leaves little room for planning.
Files pertaining to Atishi’s government formation and Kejriwal’s resignation as chief minister of Delhi were submitted to Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena on Tuesday, according to authorities. President Droupadi Murmu was asked to approve both documents.
Gopal Rai, Kailash Gahlot, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Imran Hussain, and newcomer Mukesh Ahlawat—a first-time MLA from Sultanpur Majra—will be part of the AAP’s declared new council of ministers. Within the departing Kejriwal cabinet, Rai, Gahlot, Bharadwaj, and Hussain had ministerial positions.
Atishi had 13 ministries in the departing Kejriwal administration, including those related to finance, revenue, PWD, electricity, and education.
Bharadwaj oversaw, among other things, the departments of health, tourism, and urban development, while Rai was in charge of the environment, development, and general administration.
Hussain served as the minister of supply and food, while Gahlot oversaw the ministries of women’s and children’s development, transportation, and the home.
The AAP has scheduled a meeting of the Delhi Assembly for September 26–27, during which the Atishi-led new administration would attempt to demonstrate the bulk of its policies. The assembly elections in Delhi are scheduled for February of the following year; hence, the Atishi government’s duration would be short.
Many long-pending laws and social programs, like the Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana, the Electric Vehicle Policy 2.0, and service delivery to customers’ doorsteps, would need to be expedited and approved by the incoming administration.
