According to authorities, on Saturday, a female student at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Patna was discovered hanging inside her dorm room on the campus situated in Bihta, on the outskirts of the capital of Bihar.

The woman’s corpse, from Andhra Pradesh, was discovered dangling from her dorm room ceiling fan. There was also a suicide note discovered there.

“At around 10.15 p.m. on Friday, the police got a call reporting that a female student had hanged herself in her dorm room by hanging herself from the ceiling fan. When police arrived, they discovered her corpse and took her to the closest government hospital, where they pronounced her dead, according to a police statement that PTI obtained. The deceased was not identified.

“Her family members have been notified. The deceased was an Andhra Pradesh native, and her corpse has been submitted for post-mortem testing. Additionally, a suicide note was discovered there. The statement said that “all available scientific evidence is being gathered on the spot, and additional research is in progress.”

It further said that the precise reason for the tragedy is yet unknown.

As word of the student’s passing spread, a sizable contingent of institute students gathered outside the school and chanted anti-administration chants.

In an unconnected incident, a class 12 student in Kota, Rajasthan, is said to have committed suicide. On September 18, 2024, the 19-year-old student leaped to her death from the 12th storey of a building. The deceased was a resident of Kota, and after a postmortem, her corpse was given to her family. At her aunt’s apartment in Rajiv Gandhi Nagar’s Tripolis Building, she made the drastic move.

She was the oldest of two sisters, SHO Harinarayan Sharma of the Jawahar Nagar police station informed IANS. In the city, her father manages a nursing home. “The father left his kid under her aunt’s multi-story building on Tuesday night at approximately seven o’clock. Her aunt lives on the building’s third story. But she went the extra mile instead of visiting her aunt’s home,” the SHO said. The cops said that they still don’t know what caused the drastic action.

According to initial findings, the girl leaped from the twelfth story. She killed herself because she was depressed. Her family’s loss of their daughter has left them all in shock. Only after speaking with the family members and receiving a post-mortem report can the cause of the suicide be determined. DSP Rajesh Taylor informed IANS that the probe is still being conducted with all factors taken into consideration.
