This evening, Dr Punam Krishnan will make her dancefloor debut as one of the 15 celebrities competing on Strictly Come Dancing, this year.

The Glaswegian found fame through her career as a medical professional after landing a TV gig on BBC's Morning Live as their resident doctor.

She makes regular appearances on the programme to advise concerned callers, issue healthcare advice and discuss current medical news.

Alongside her role as a GP, Punam is a columnist for iNews and an author after releasing her first book in 2022.

She penned, How to Be a Doctor and Other Life-Saving Jobs, and children's books You and Your Body, and A Superhero's First Aid Manual.

Away from screens, Punam is mum to two children, who she shares with her husband Sandesh Gulhane.

He is a Scottish MP and the Scottish Conservative Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care.

After joining Morning Live in 2020, the 41-year-old became a familiar face across TV after starring on a celebrity edition of The Weakest Link and presenting BBC's Laid Bare.

After making her Strictly debut during the launch show last week, Punam revealed she would be continuing her work as a GP while on the show.

After co-host Tess Daly probed into her multi-tasking skills, Punam confessed: "I've got to be, the days are very long and I'm a very literal student.

"So, I was told you've really got to break in your shoes so last week .. picture the scene, your doctor comes out to call you in.

"They're walking in front of you and they're walking in these bad boys," she said while showing off her glittering dance heels."

After offering advice on blisters, Punam also fell victim to fellow contestant Chris McCausland's hilarious jibe as he joked: "None of us can believe we've managed to get in the same room as a GP."
