Hidden Camera in Toilet: Bengaluru BTech Student 'Films' Women; Caught by Girl in College Washroom

Bengaluru: A 21-year-old BTech student allegedly recorded videos of girls inside a ladies washroom at a private engineering college in Kumbalgodu on Mysuru Road in Bengaluru, Karnataka. He was caught by one of the girls when the latter noticed a mobile phone near a cubicle and screamed in horror. The police have identified the accused as a seventh-semester student of computer science at the same college at Bengaluru's outskirts. Hearing the girl's scream, other students gathered inside the washroom, and confronted the accused. The accused reportedly entered the girl's washroom at 10:30 am on Friday. He locked himself in one of the toilets, holding his phone adjacent to the toilet to record the videos of the girls. A while later, a girl noticed the mobile phone hanging from one of the cubicles, and yelled in shock. Everyone gathered there and found that the cubicle was locked. Sensing someone's presence inside the washroom, they broke into the cubicle after receiving no response despite all efforts. Following which, the students took the accused to the college principal's office and demanded stern action against him when more videos were discovered on his phone. After the news spread, several college students began to protest outside the premises, demanding action against him. Soon after the chaos, the police arrived at the college to take control of the situation. The college management handed the accused BTech student over to the police.

Upon checking the device, officials found out two videos, so they sent it to FSL -- Forensic Science Laboratory. This led the police to find out if the accused had done the same in the past too. "The police added that they still need to analyze the data on the phone to determine whether the accused had been involved in this activity for a long time. The individual has been charged under Section 77, 351(2)).
