Known for his ability to embody a wide range of characters he once used to pick and drop the legendary Madhuri Dixit to and from film sets. Shekhars journey in the industry is a testament to his dedication and skill making him a noteworthy figure in the acting world. Shekhar Suman launched his acting career in 1984 with the film Utsav featuring the iconic Rekha and produced by Shashi Kapoor directed by Girish Karnad. The film stirred quite a buzz especially with its intimate scenes between Shekhar and Rekha which quickly went viral upon release. Interestingly Shekhar himself has mentioned that landing his debut role didn’t require extensive effort on his part. Reflecting on his debut film Shekhar Suman shared with Siddharth Kannan This was perhaps the most incredible break for any newcomer in Indian cinema. Within just 15 days I was signed for the film barely unpacking my bags before I found myself shooting alongside Rekha just two months later. I will always be grateful to Shashi Kapoor Girish Karnad and Rekha. In a separate interview Shekhar revealed that before Utsav was released he was cast in Manav Hatya a film with a very low budget where he starred opposite a then-aspiring Madhuri Dixit. Because of the tight budget he often rode his bike to pick her up for shoots. Shekhar Sumans cinematic journey Shekhar Suman kicked off his career alongside major stars and found early success but after 1989 his journey took a downturn with a string of unsuccessful films. This led him to transition to television where he found renewed success with various shows and his popular talk show Movers and Shakers. Despite his challenges in the film industry Shekhar’s son Adhyayan Suman is currently experiencing similar struggles in securing meaningful roles.
