The audio launch event of Vettaiyaan was held in Chennai on 20 September. Many stars attended this event. Although Amitabh Bachchan was not present at the audio launch event, Rajinikanth praised Amitabh Bachchan a lot during this time. At the event, Rajinikanth also talked about Amitabh Bachchan's financial struggles and told how he overcame them through his work.

At the event, Rajinikanth recalled, “When Amit ji was making films, he incurred huge losses. He was not even able to pay his watchman. Things had come to a point where his Juhu house was about to be auctioned. The whole Bollywood was laughing at him… the world was just waiting for his downfall. However, he did not give up despite this. He worked hard for three years and earned a lot of money. During this time he did a lot of advertisements, did KBC. With his hard work, he bought three more houses along with the Juhu house. He works 10 hours a day even at the age of 82.”

He said, "Amitabh's father is a great writer. Under his influence, he could have become a writer too, but he did something different from the rest of his family. Once Amitabh had a terrible accident. At that time Indira Gandhi had gone abroad for a conference. When she came to know about this accident, she immediately came to India and went to the hospital to meet him, only then did everyone know that Rajiv Gandhi and Amitabh had studied together."

Apart from Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, Dushra Vijayan, Rana Daggubati and Fahadh Fasil will also be seen in the film Vettaiyaan. This film will be released in theatres on 10 October. The film is directed by TJ Gnanavel. Earlier this film was going to clash with Kanguva, but Kanguva makers have extended the release date of their film to 14 November.
