A young man from the Jamui district of Bihar was arrested for impersonating an IPS officer in the Sikandra police station area. The accused, identified as Mithlesh Kumar Manjhi, had paid Rs 2 lakh to Manjoh Singh of Khaira for getting the uniform of an IPS officer.

Jamui SDPO Satish Suman said, “A young man who was seen riding a bike in a trainee IPS uniform pretending to be an IPS officer has been arrested by the Sikandra police. He is being questioned after being brought to the police station.”

Mithlesh Kumar Manjhi is a resident of Govardhanbigha in the Halsi area of the Lakhisarai district. During police interrogation, Manjhi revealed that he was tricked into this situation with the promise of a job that would pay Rs 2.3 lakh.

He had already paid Rs 2 lakh to someone named Manoj Singh from Khaira, who had dressed him in the police uniform on a school campus and handed him a toy pistol. Manoj told Manjhi to go to the place he was supposed to be posted and assured him that he would receive a call about it.

Mithlesh then rode his bike to Sikandra Chowk, dressed in a police uniform with an IPS badge. The police became suspicious when they spotted him in the uniform and questioned him. He claimed to be an IPS officer.

After this, he was taken into custody and brought to the Sikandra police station. There, it was discovered that he was from Govardhanbigha village in the Halsi area of Lakhisarai district and had recently completed his matriculation.

The young man who impersonated an IPS officer said that a few days ago while visiting the Pachbhur waterfall in the Khaira area, he met someone named Manoj Singh. “Manoj promised me a job in the police but asked for Rs 2.3 lakh in return. I asked my mother for money and even took a loan from my uncle to gather Rs 2 lakh,” Manjhi said.

He then travelled to Khaira, where he handed the money to Manoj Singh on Thursday. “After that, Manoj dressed me in a police uniform and told me to go out, assuring me I would receive a call about my duty,” Manjhi added. The police have since launched an investigation into the case.

Meanwhile, Mithlesh’s mother Pinky Devi said, “Mithlesh came home wearing a uniform at night and said that he has got a job in the police. He stayed at home the whole night. We have not given any money. His uncle gave him the money. I was very happy and believed my son’s words. We are poor people.”

Jamui SDPO Satish Suman said, “A youth named Mithlesh Manjhi has been arrested in IPS uniform from the Sikandra police station area. The police are investigating the matter, and information will be shared soon.”
