Haryana Polls: Kumari Selja To Join Congress Campaign Amid Rift Buzz

Congress leader Kumari Selja will join the party's campaign for the upcoming Haryana polls, said Randeep Surjewala amid reports of infighting amid the party's state unit.

Surjewala said that the Congress Lok Sabha MP and "elder sister" Kumari Selja will address a public rally in Narwana on September 26.

"MP and elder sister Kumari Selja @Kumari_Selja Will also address a public meeting in Narwana on 26th at 12 noon and will campaign for the Congress," said the Congress leader in a post on X.

The announcement comes as buzz went around over infighting between the Selja and Hooda camps after the former remained absent from the party's campaign in the state. Selja was reportedly upset over candidates from the Bhupinder Singh Hooda camp getting more tickets than the loyalists belonging to her fold.

The rumours were fanned by Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini who hinted at the "possibility" of Selja switching sides with the Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of the October 5 polls.

Hitting out the BJP, Selja on Monday said that the party should refrain from giving advice. "Congress runs through my veins, just as my father passed away wrapped in the Tricolour. I, too, will go wrapped in that same Tricolour one day," she said.

She also said that there was no dissatisfaction within the ranks of the party but rather, some internal matters that are being resolved as the party continues to move forward.

“There are always discussions within the party that we cannot share publicly. The party is progressing, and such matters are part of internal decision-making, she added.

On Monday, Selja met with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and listed her concerns. Kharge listened to the problems told by Selja and assured her to resolve the issues, sources told ABP News.
