The police team which went to remove illegal encroachment on land in Mahalgaon police station area of Jokihat block area of Araria district was attacked with arrows and sticks, in which two police officers were injured, in which a woman sub-inspector was hit by an arrow on the face near the eye. The injured police officers have been sent to Purnia for treatment. The police team is camping at the spot.
Police had gone to take action in the case of illegal occupation of about 18 acres of land in Bagnagar Panchayat Pokhariya village of Mahalgaon police station area. When the policemen arrived to remove this illegal occupation, people became angry. People of Mahadalit community have come and settled on the said land. They said that they have got this land through red card. At the same time, they got angry when the police stopped them from occupying the land and they became aggressive.
They attacked the policemen, which created panic among the policemen who reached the spot. The said people attacked the police with arrows and sticks. Two police officers posted at Jokihat police station were injured in this attack. According to the information received, an arrow hit the face of Sub Inspector Nusrat Jahan who reached the spot. It has been revealed that the arrow hit below the eye.
Sub Inspector Virendra Kumar Nat was also injured in this attack. Both were sent to Purnia for treatment. Both were admitted to Max Hospital in Purnia. The police is camping at the spot. Giving information about the case, Araria SP said that a land dispute broke out between two parties at Pokhariya village under Mahalgaon police station area at 3 am on Monday, in which about 200 people from one side started planting bamboo on the land concerned.
As soon as the information was received, the Mahalgaon SHO reached with the police force. During this, the anti-social elements in the crowd became furious and attacked the police force. A police officer was injured in this, who was admitted to Max Hospital Purnia for treatment. Here she was operated successfully and the arrow was removed. At present, a heavy police force has been deployed on the spot. The police have registered a case in connection with the incident and arrested four people so far. In this case, a case has been registered against 25 named and 300 unknown people.
