Amidst bad weather in Chhattisgarh, lightning has wreaked havoc. Within 24 hours, 9 people have died and as many have been badly burnt due to lightning in two districts of the state. On Monday, 8 people died and another person was injured due to lightning in Rajnandgaon district of Chhattisgarh. Some school children are also among the dead. Just a day before, one person died in Janjgir-Champa while 8 were burnt.

Police officials said that eight people, including some school children, were killed and another person was injured when lightning struck Joratarai village under Somni police station area of ​​the district at around 1.30 pm on Monday. Rajnandgaon district Superintendent of Police Mohit Garg said, “According to initial information, eight people, including some school children, died due to lightning. Apart from this, one person is reported to be injured, who has been admitted to the hospital.

He said that as soon as the information about this incident was received, senior administrative and police officers reached the spot. According to the Superintendent of Police, he and the District Magistrate of Rajnandgaon have also left for the spot. He said that detailed information regarding the incident is awaited.

Lightning struck people celebrating a picnic in Janjgir-Champa

On Sunday, a minor died and 8 others were seriously injured after being struck by lightning in Janjgir Champa district of Chhattisgarh. 22 people had gone for a picnic. A group of them was sitting under a tree when suddenly the weather changed and it started raining and lightning struck a tree. During this, 11-year-old Chandrahas died on the spot while 8 other people were burnt.
