Already, employees are being provided free electricity service up to a certain limit. For example, employees with a basic salary of up to Rs 23800 are given free electricity service up to 50 units every month. That is, on the basis of salary, employees are given 200 units of electricity per month for free.

But now it has been announced that to avail free electricity in this way, employees will have to install smart meters in their homes. Employees who have smart meters installed in their homes will be given the benefit of free electricity.
