Ingredients for making Semolina Upma

  • Semolina (semolina) – 1 cup
  • Bengal gram dal – 1 tablespoon
  • Peas – 1/4 cup
  • Urad dal – 1 tablespoon
  • Onion – 1 (finely chopped)
  • Green chillies – 2 (finely chopped)
  • Ginger – 1 inch (grated)
  • Coriander - 2 tablespoons (finely chopped)
  • Curry leaves – 2-3
  • Lemon juice – 1 tablespoon
  • Carrot – 1/4 cup (chopped)
  • Garam masala – 1/4 tsp
  • Water – 2.5 cups
  • Oil – 2-3 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Salt – as per taste

How to make Semolina Upma

  • – First of all, take a non-stick pan and add semolina to it and fry it while stirring it on medium flame.
  • Roast the semolina till it becomes golden brown.
  • – Now heat oil in another pan and add mustard seeds, urad dal, and chana dal and fry them.
  • – After some time, add curry leaves, onion, green chillies and ginger and fry it.
  • – Add carrots and peas to the roasted onion and fry for some time.
  • Add roasted rava to the vegetables and mix well.
  • Add water slowly and keep stirring continuously.
  • Add salt and garam masala.
  • Cook it on medium flame till it thickens.
  • Tasty and nutritious semolina upma is ready.
  • – Take it out in a serving bowl, pour lemon juice over it and garnish with green coriander and serve.
