According to the footage, the rains did not stop in Mumbai on Tuesday, October 18, after the yellow signal was issued by the India Meteorological Department for the Maharashtrian metropolis, for the second consecutive day in a row.
There was presence of rain in Mumbai after a long dry spell this week since Monday. In fact the weather department has issued a yellow signal from 23 to 25 September which might as well be accompanied by light to moderate rainfall and gusty winds and thunderstorms.

Users of social network X recounted the torrential rains through social media on Monday which caused flooding in some parts of the city and even in special circumstances termed it “flash flooding.”
Meanwhile the IMD has issues an orange advisory for the districts of Thane and Palghar for September 25 with very severe weather including high squally lightening to isolated parts coupled with high to very high rain.
Weather juggernauts also called out stakeholders to make provisions for water harvesting after escorting excess water from fields and fruit farms in the state of Maharashtra and in the other states as well to avoid flooding.
So far this season total rain recorded in Santacruz and Colaba observatories of IMD have been 2605.4 mm and 2308.7 mm respectively.
The current dry spell has resulted in both daytime and nighttime average maximum temperatures that have been higher than normal.
The minimum temperatures recorded at the Colaba and Santacruz observatories on Monday were 26.0°C and 25.7°C respectively.
As of this Sunday, total water levels in the lakes of Mumbai stood at 14.20 lakh million litres, which is 98.15 % of the total volume.
