Travel News Desk !!! This ancient fort built in Rajputana and Mughal style is known throughout the country for its beauty and mystery. This fort is located in Alwar city, just 150 km from Delhi. It is said that after China, the longest wall is in Kumbhalgarh district of Rajasthan and after this comes the name of this Bala fort i.e. Kunwara Fort of Alwar. The fort has 4 entrances and is built on the top of a hill. Seeing the city and the fort from here is really an amazing experience. It is said that no battle was ever fought in this fort, hence its name Kunwara Fort.
You can easily reach here by rail and road. For this, you can take a direct train to Alwar from Delhi's Sarai Rohilla, Delhi Cantt and Old Delhi stations. Apart from this, you can also reach Alwar by bus from Sarai Kale Khan bus stand and Dhaula Kuan. You can also reach here easily by your car. This fort is at a distance of 7 km from the city
Many stories are told behind the construction of this fort. It is said that first of all Alghuraji, the second son of Amer King Kakil, started the construction of the fort by building a small fort on this hill of Alwar in Samvat 1108 (1049 AD). Then in the 13th century Nikumbh built the temple of Chaturbhuja Devi in the fort. Later in the 15th century Alaval Khan built the walls of this fort and it was named Kila. In the 18th century Maharaja Surajmal of Bharatpur built Surajkund as a source of water in the fort and built the temple of Sitaramji in 1775. In the 19th century Maharaj Bakhtawar Singh built Pratap Singh's chhatri and Zanana Mahal on the fort. It is said that after the Battle of Khanwa, Mughal Emperor Babar spent the night in the fort in April 1927. After the Battle of Khanwa, Mughal emperor Babur spent a night's rest in the fort in April 1927.
This fort of Alwar is counted among the largest forts of Rajasthan. This fort is spread over an area of 5 km. There are 6 entrance gates on the way to the fort and their names are Chand Paul, Suraj Paul, Krishna Paul, Laxman Paul, Andheri Gate and Jai Paul. These gates are named after the rulers. This fort is built in many styles. The walls of the fort have beautiful sculptures and carvings which are really captivating. The fort has many buildings like Suraj Kund, Salim Nagar Lake, Jal Mahal and Nikumbh Mahal Palace and there are also many temples. There are 15 big and 51 small towers inside the fort, which have been built here keeping security in mind. There are 446 holes in the walls of this fort from which bullets were fired. Apart from this, there are 15 big and 51 small forts.
