Weather changes in Dehradun, city flooded due to heavy rain

After bright sunshine in Doon since morning, the weather suddenly changed in the afternoon and heavy rain started. Heavy rain has been continuing in most areas of the city since around 12:15. The main roads of the city have been submerged due to one hour of heavy rain.

Due to the clogged drains, the rainwater is overflowing and flowing on the roads. The potholed roads are causing accidents due to the rain. The rivers and streams of the city are also overflowing. The rain is expected to continue.

According to the Meteorological Center, there is a possibility of heavy showers with thunder and lightning in most areas of Dehradun today and tomorrow. Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been issued in the mountainous regions of Kumaon regarding heavy rain and lightning.

The body of Pramod, who was swept away in the Punad stream, was recovered

Last Monday late evening, the body of a person who was swept away in the Punad stream near the new bus stand in Rudraprayag was found at a distance of about 100 meters. No trace of the said person could be found in the search operation that continued till late night. The police have filled the Panchnama of the body and sent it to the district hospital for postmortem.

Last Monday at 7:30 pm, the Police Control Room Rudraprayag received information that a person had fallen into the Punar Gadera near the new bus stand Rudraprayag. Kotwali Rudraprayag Police, along with the Water Police, DDRF and SDRF, as well as the local people conducted a thorough search operation late in the night, but no trace was found.

On Tuesday morning, a search operation was again conducted for the said person, after which the body of the person was found stuck under a stone in Punar ghat at around 5 pm. The deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Pramod Chauhan, son of Narendra Singh, resident of village Machkandi Mohankhal district-Rudraprayag, currently District Hospital Colony. Pramod was posted as a ward boy in the district hospital. The police have filled the Panchayatnama of the deceased and sent the body to the district hospital for post-mortem.
