Test credentials for star India batsman Virat Kohli have been deteriorating for some time now, and this was made evident when England’s Joe Root amassed massive runs in recent months to close the distance between him and the other members of theFab 4.

The ace Indian batsman wouldn’t be too bothered by that, but it’s past time he had an innings in the longest format reminiscent of Virat Kohli’s.
Kohli struggled against Bangladesh, a team against whom he had a high average. He was unable to score more than 23 runs in two innings, which caused him to drop out of the top 10 in the ICC Test batting rankings.

Kohli dropped from seventh to as low as 12th place in the rankings, and only a strong showing in the second Test match against Bangladesh will guarantee that he returns to the top 10.

Kohli’s Falling Test Success Rate

The leading Indian batsman has scored 38, 76, 46, 12, 6, and 17 runs in his past six Test innings. The only knock of more over fifty occurred late in the season, although in difficult circumstances, against South Africa, and he was highly praised for his effort.

Kohli was four runs short of a fifty-run total in the second Test against the Patriots, but he has only managed to score 35 runs in three innings since then.

With 114 Test matches under his belt, Kohli currently has 8871 runs at an average of 48.74. Previously, he had not been able to score runs in any of the five Test matches against England because of the birth of his son, Akaay.

Kohli previously scored fewer runs than average in six matches two years ago, when he amassed 265 runs with only one fifty-plus innings. However, he returned stronger the previous season, amassing 671 runs at an astounding average of 55.91 in eight games.

India still has nine Test matches left in this season: three at home against New Zealand, one against Bangladesh, and five away against Australia in what is perhaps Kohli’s favorite conditions abroad. It has to be seen how the prominent Indian batsman performs with the bat, having just made one appearance in Kanpur throughout his extensive Test career.
