Since the match was delayed due to overnight rain, the weather has not been favorable since the first day of play. The rain stopped in the first session, but it came back in the second, and the match was called off for the day.

It was always going to be a weather-hit match, given the outlook. India captain Rohit Sharma requested Bangladesh to bat in cloudy circumstances, but only 35 overs could be bowled before the visitors were reduced to 107/3 after a short stand by Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto (31).

Day 2 saw no improvement either, and even after the rain stopped, the pitch was covered for a considerable amount of time. View the video by clicking this link:

Although the rain in Kanpur on Day 2 has caused some difficulties, things should get better in the next several days. Sunday will mostly be gloomy with the possibility of a little early rain in the city. On Sunday, there’s a 59% chance of rain, and some more play is anticipated.

When the sky opened up, Mominul Haque (40 batting) and seasoned Mushfiqur Rahim (6) were at the crease. The game had been delayed by one hour due to overnight rain.

India bowler Akash Deep (2/14 in 10 overs) targeted the good-length areas and got the ball to form away or come in with the angle. Deep bowled round the wicket to the southpaws.

However, Shanto (57 balls, 4×6) batted with a good purpose, if not a belligerent one, to make sure Bangladesh did not fall behind right away.

As anticipated, openers Shadman Islam and Zakir Hasan played cautiously because of the early bounce and seam movement.
