The second match of the 2-match Test series between India and Bangladesh is being played at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. There is a shadow of rain on this match since the first day. Because of this, only 35 overs could be played on the first day of the match. After lunch the weather worsened and then it started raining. Therefore the remaining game had to be cancelled. The next day the situation was even worse. Due to rain not a single ball could be bowled and the game had to be cancelled. This is only the second time in the last 9 years that the second day of India's home Test series was canceled without any ball being bowled.

Strange coincidence after 9 years

Rain has spoiled the color of India-Bangladesh Test series. On the second day of the Kanpur Test, players of both the teams could not come on the field even for warm-up. Both the teams were seen in their respective dressing rooms. Due to rain the players returned from the field without playing on the second day. Earlier in 2015, such an incident had happened in the Bengaluru Test between India and South Africa.

Now, 9 years after this incident, a strange coincidence has happened. In fact, even at that time, Indian captain Virat Kohli had won the toss and chose to bowl first. Whereas in Kanpur, Rohit Sharma, seeing the dense clouds, won the toss and decided to bowl first. That means, in the last 9 years, Team India won the toss and chose bowling only twice in the home test match. Both times no ball could be bowled on the second day of the match.

Danger of rain on third day too

After the first day, play could not be played on any day in Bengaluru due to rain. Now a similar situation is developing in Kanpur also. There is a possibility of rain on the third day also. The ground is already very wet, if there is more rain then the third day may also be cancelled. According to media reports, the facilities for drying the field at Green Park Stadium are not good. Apart from this, the Indian team is also not happy with the other facilities here.

A total of 35 overs were bowled on the first day of the match. During this, Bangladesh team scored 107 runs at the loss of 3 wickets. Mominul Haq remained present at the crease after scoring 40 runs and Mushfiqur Rahim 6 runs. On the other hand, Akash Deep was India's most successful bowler. He gave only 34 runs in 10 overs and made 2 batsmen his victims. After this, Ravichandran Ashwin provided the third success.
