After the conclusion of the ongoing two-match Test series, the Indian men’s cricket team will face Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series that starts on October 6 in Gwalior. The second match is scheduled to take place in New Delhi on October 9, and Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium will host the final match of the series on October 12. The BCCI took to X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday (September 28) to announce Men in Blue’s 15-member squad for the bilateral series.

Former world No. 1 T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav will lead the hosts, and the series also marked the return of Tamil Nadu spinner Varun Chakravarthy to the Indian team after almost three years. He last played for India in the 2021 T20 World Cup. Lucknow Super Giants pacer Mayank Yadav has earned his maiden India call-up, and Nitish Kumar Reddy, Abhishek Sharma, and Harshit Rana are also back in the T20I team after missing the last series against Sri Lanka in July 2024.

Ahead of the start of T20I series between India and Bangladesh, here’s a look at the complete list of changes in India’s T20I team for series against Bangladesh from the last series played against Sri Lanka:

IN: Sunrisers Hyderabad batter Abhishek Sharma, who made his T20I debut for India against Zimbabwe in Harare on July 6 and scored a century in the second match played on July 7, is back in the Indian team and will open the innings in the absence of Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Ruturaj Gaikwad. In addition to him, wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma is also back in the T20I side. The Punjab Kings stumper last played for India in January 2024 against Afghanistan.

KKR pacer Harshit Rana and spinner Varun Chakravarthy, SRH’s Nitish Kumar Reddy, and LSG’s Mayank Yadav are other players who are picked for the T20I series. While Rana and Reddy were part of the Indian team for the Zimbabwe series as well in July 2024, Chakravarthy last played for Men in Blue in November 2021, and Mayank has earned an India call-up for the first time in his career.

OUT: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Axar Patel, Rishabh Pant, Mohammed Siraj, and Khaleel Ahmed played in the last T20I series against Sri Lanka but will not be seen in action against Bangladesh. While Jaiswal, Gill, Axar, Pant, and Siraj are rested, keeping the players workload management in mind, Khaleel was picked in the Rest of India squad for the Irani Cup match against Mumbai in Lucknow from October 1–5, which is why he wasn’t available for the Bangladesh series.

Players retained: Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Riyan Parag, Rinku Singh, Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, Sanju Samson, Ravi Bishnoi, and Arshdeep Singh are nine players who have managed to retain their place in the T20I team for the upcoming series against Bangladesh.

India’s squad for T20I series against Bangladesh: Suryakumar Yadav (C), Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (wk), Rinku Singh, Hardik Pandya, Riyan Parag, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Varun Chakaravarthy, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, Mayank Yadav.
