Junior NTR's film Devara took a strong opening at the box office. It was believed that it would earn more money in the future. But the film could not do business as expected. The film collected around Rs 82 crore on the first day in India, and the next day it could not earn even half of the first day collection. Following this trend, the film did not do much business on Monday also. Its collection was a little more than 12 crores. Simply put, 'Devra' has failed in the Monday test.
It has been 4 days since 'Devra' was released. The film has done a business of around Rs 173 crore. The film had earned half of this total earning on the first day itself. After that the pace of the film slowed down at the box office. After a bumper opening of Rs 82.5 crore, the film failed at the box office, whereas the opposite happens with other big films.
The film earns less on Friday. Saturday and Sunday are holidays, hence the collection of the film increases during these two days. But Junior NTR's film won on the first day on the basis of advance booking. But on the second day it could earn only Rs 38.2 crores. The situation remained more or less the same on the third day. The film collected Rs 39.9 crore. On the fourth day the film came straight from the sky to the earth. On Monday, 'Devra' earned only Rs 12.5 crore. When the final data comes, the matter may go up or down by one crore crore.
Day | collection |
first day | 82.5 crores |
second day | 38.2 crores |
third day | 39.9 crores |
fourth day | 12.5 crores |
total earnings | 173.1 crores |
Jr NTR's film is doing well only in Telugu. If the collection of Telugu version is released, the situation will get worse. The Telugu version earned Rs 73.25 crore on the first day, Rs 27.55 crore on the second day and Rs 27.7 crore on the third day. On the fourth day, the film earned Rs 8 crore out of Rs 12.5 from Telugu only.
Since Jr NTR has a pan India image after RRR. This film also stars two big names of the Hindi industry, Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor. In such a situation, it was expected to earn well in Hindi. But this could not happen. The film collected Rs 7.5 crore from Hindi on the first day, Rs 9 crore on the second day, Rs 10.5 crore on the third day and Rs 4 crore on the fourth day.
Now if the film has to earn well in future, it will have to gain momentum in Hindi. Hindi has a larger audience, and the film has already earned around Rs 136 crores from Telugu, so it will earn another Rs 70 crores from this language. But only when the earnings of the Hindi version increase, it will be able to touch the figure of Rs 350-400 crore in India. Let's see what happens in the coming days.
