Bollywood actress Ananya Panday has voiced her concern over the increasing prevalence of deepfake videos and suggested crucial steps to tackle this growing issue.

Ananya, who made her debut in Bollywood in 2019 with the film Student of the Year 2, has since starred in films like Pati Patni Aur Woh, Khaali Peeli, Liger, Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, and Dream Girl 2.

This year, she gained widespread recognition with the success of the web series Call Me Bae, which outshined her previous projects and significantly boosted her popularity.

Alongside her acting career, Ananya has been outspoken on key social matters.

Recently, she addressed the surge in fake videos, particularly deepfakes, which are becoming increasingly widespread.

She pointed out that since public figures’ faces and voices are easily accessible, they are vulnerable to misuse.

Her remarks came at a time when deepfake technology, which enables the creation of fake content by manipulating a person’s image or voice, is on the rise. Ananya underscored the gravity of this issue, urging the government to implement stringent regulations to address the risks associated with such technology.

She acknowledged the benefits of modern technology but stressed the need for protective measures against its potential harms.

Ananya will soon be seen in an upcoming cyber-thriller film titled CTRL, directed by Vikramaditya Motwane. The film, which delves into the world of artificial intelligence (AI), will premiere on Netflix on October 4.

Deepfake is a digital technique that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to manipulate or replace a person’s likeness with someone else’s, allowing users to create realistic but fake images or videos.
