At the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal defeated Paris Saint-Germain 2-0 in the Champions League. After Kai Havertz scored the first goal, the 23-year-old winger doubled the Gunners’ lead with a free kick.

Arsenal, who haven’t won the Premier League since 2003–04, hasn’t been far from the top two in the previous two seasons, coming in second to Manchester City under Mikel Arteta’s leadership. The North London team will try to close the two-point deficit that separated them from the league championship this year.

“I certainly believe that this is the year, but I don’t want to put too much pressure on us. We’ve been close for the last two years, I believe, and we are growing closer. But yes, perhaps this year will be it, Saka said to CBS Sports.

This season, Arsenal has not lost any of its nine games and has kept five clean sheets, two of which have come in the Champions League. After six games, they are now one point behind leaders Liverpool and tied for third place in the Premier League standings with City. The team is now ranked eighth in the Champions League standings, one spot behind its championship rivals Manchester City, who defeated Slovan Bratislava 4-0 on the second matchday.

On Saturday, Arsenal will play their last Premier League game before the international break against Southampton. They will play again on October 19, traveling to Bournemouth, and then hosting Shakhtar Donetsk on October 22, the third matchday of the Champions League.
