Spending five years of my life on 12th Fail was worth it: Vidhu Vinod Chopra

Ahead of its first anniversary, Vidhu Vinod Chopra ’s “12th Fail” screened for Hon’ble Dr Justice D Y Chandrachud , Chief Justice of India and esteemed judges at the Supreme Court of India . The film had an unprecedented run of over 25 weeks in theatres. On the occasion, Chief Justice of India, along with esteemed judges of Supreme court and their families, attended the film's screening. It was followed by an exclusive interaction between Justice DY Chandrachud and writer-director Vidhu Vinod Chopra, along with IPS Manoj Kumar Sharmaand IRS Officer Shraddha Joshi, on whose life the film is based and the film’s lead cast Vikrant Massey and Medha Shankar .

Justice D.Y Chandrachud in conversation with the team 12th Fail post screening said, “We need stories of real people who have shown exemplary motivation by rising above their circumstances, and these stories must be conveyed to society at large. Such films enable and inspire to do something better every day of our lives for people around us. Both Vikrant and Medha have done a brilliant job. They have fully embodied the lives and environments of their characters and made it such a part of their existence while doing the film. This film conveys, such a strong message of hope. I’d like to thank the team of 12th Fail for taking the time to spend the evening with us.”

Speaking at the occasion, Vidhu Vinod Chopra said, “This was one of the most pleasant evenings of my life. Because I was watching the film sitting next to a man (Hon Dr Justice D.Y. Chandrachud) who understood everything I tried to say in the film. He made me feel that spending 5 years of my life on this film was worth it. I am grateful to all the esteemed judges and members of Supreme Court who found time to join us."
