Questioning the hasty decision taken by LG VK Saxena regarding the election of MCD Standing Committee member, the Supreme Court has also warned the LG that if he starts using executive powers under the MCD Act, then democracy will be in danger. .

Also, the senior judge warned that if you elect the Chairman of the MCD Standing Committee, we will take it seriously. Challenging the election of the sixth member of the MCD Standing Committee, Mayor and Aam Aadmi Party leader Shaili Oberoi had approached the Supreme Court. Today the Supreme Court has sought reply from the office of LG VK Saxena.

Recently, Shaili Oberoi had fixed the elections on 5th October, but on the orders of LG VK Saxena, the elections were held on 27th September at 1 pm, due to which BJP won unopposed.

The court did not want to consider this petition at first, but after the decision of Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, notice had to be given.

A bench of Justices PS Narasimha and R Mahadevan told the LG's office that it will not hold elections till the hearing of Mayor Shelly Oberoi's petition against the standing committee elections to be held on September 27. If this happens the court will take it seriously.
