At least 10 workers were killed and three were seriously hurt when a truck hit a tractor-trolley carrying them late Thursday night near Katka village on the road between Prayagraj and Varanasi.

A tractor-trolley carrying workers was hit hard from behind by a truck as they were coming home from work.

They were going back to their village, Birbalpur, which is in the Mirzamurad police station area of Varanasi.

Police say that the truck coming from Aurai lost control and hit the tractor-trolley.

Bhanu Pratap (26), Anil Kumar (35), Suraj (24), Vikas (24), Nanak (18), Nitin (22), Munna (25), Terru (25), Sanohar (24) and Prem Shankar (40) were among the workers who died.
