He said that his son called him following the New York premiere of their movie Guru to tell him the exciting news that he had recently proposed to Aishwarya Rai. With fondness Amitabh Bachchan reminisced what he said at that very moment to his son and future daughter-in-law in an interview with Midday. Abhishek and Aishwarya are fond of each other. In New York after the premiere of Guru Abhishek called me and said that he proposed to her. I said Come on home. I asked Aishwarya if she was happy. She said yes. I picked them up and took her home.
