On Sunday night, October 6, there was a violent conflict between two groups of the temple management committee at the ISKCON temple in Patna, Bihar. Numerous witnesses were hurt in the altercation, which was said to be the result of persistent administrative conflicts.

The temple management was accused of assault and immoral conduct by a group of young yogis known as bal brahmacharis, according to Krishna Murari Prasad, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP). “A group of young yogis reported a conflict stemming from administrative issues, leading to a physical altercation outside the temple,” Prasad said. He gave his word that the police were looking into the situation and collected evidence, such as reports from doctors and camera footage.

The altercation took place at a planned temple management committee meeting, which was convened to resolve long-standing disagreements between two groups—those who favor the vice chairman and those who support the chairman. Months of building tensions culminated in a chaotic clash as one party pursued the other over the temple grounds and out into the surrounding streets.

Witnesses reported seeing a scene akin to a stampede as fear spread among tourists and pilgrims. DSP Prasad said, “Many people were injured in this incident.” In order to maintain order, the police showed quite quickly, and they have since obtained statements from all those involved.

While some people were hurt in the argument, others were hurt by glass breakage and little fights. The wounded have been sent to nearby medical facilities for care. The police have made it clear that, in light of their conclusions and the information they have gathered, they will take significant action.
