The results of voting on 90 assembly election seats of Jammu and Kashmir are to be declared on Tuesday. Voting was held in 3 phases in the Union Territory. Voting was held on 24 seats in the first phase, 26 in the second phase and 40 seats in the third phase. In this, the last phase of voting was held on October 1 in Ramgarh seat of Jammu region. Ramgarh assembly seat is reserved for Scheduled Caste. This seat is part of Jammu Lok Sabha constituency, which came into existence after delimitation. BJP is considered to have dominance in Jammu region. Kashmir region is dominated by regional parties like PDP and National Conference. This time in the assembly elections, independent candidates increased the tension of major political parties in Kashmir Valley.

Out of 90 seats in the Union Territory, 74 are for General, 9 for ST and 7 for SC category. Ramgarh seat is also there among them. Voting took place for the first time on this seat. A lot of enthusiasm was seen among the people. Earlier, assembly elections were held in Jammu and Kashmir in 2014. A coalition government of PDP and BJP was formed. Mufti Mohammad Sayeed became the Chief Minister, after whose death Governor's rule was imposed. Then Sayeed's daughter Mehbooba Mufti became the Chief Minister.

What percentage of voting took place in which phase?

In the first phase on September 18, 61.38 percent voting took place on 24 seats.
In the second phase on September 25, 57.31 percent voting took place on 26 seats.
In the third phase on October 1, 69.65 percent voting took place on 40 seats.

The vote percentage has increased in both the divisions of Jammu and Kashmir in the assembly elections. The total voting percentage in the elections in Kashmir region was 55.20 percent. This percentage was 47.27 in the Lok Sabha elections. However, this is less than the assembly elections of 2008 and 2014. A new record of voting was created in the assembly elections in Srinagar, Pulwama, Baramulla and Shopian of Kashmir Valley.
