Voting for assembly elections was held in three phases on 90 seats in Jammu and Kashmir. The results are to come on 8th October. Voting was held in the first phase on Samba seat of Jammu region on September 18. From here, Congress has fielded Krishna Dev Singh, BJP has fielded Surjit Singh Salathia and PDP has fielded Rajendra Manhas. An interesting competition was seen between them. The decision on who will be the MLA of Samba will be taken today.
In the assembly elections-2014, 84 thousand 916 voters had cast their votes in Samba seat of Jammu region. There was 80 percent voting then. BJP's Devinder Kumar Maniyal had won. Yash Paul Kundal of Panthers Party stood second. Jammu region is considered the stronghold of BJP.
Samba assembly constituency is part of Jammu Lok Sabha seat. There was huge enthusiasm among the voters here in the recently held Lok Sabha elections-2024. Assembly elections have been held for the first time in Jammu and Kashmir after the removal of Article 370. In such a situation, other parties including BJP, Congress and PDP and independent candidates put forth their full strength. Congress and National Conference (NC) have an alliance in the Union Territory. Therefore, the election has been quite interesting.
