Haryana Elections Results: India's richest woman Savitri Jindal once again stepped into politics and won the Hisar assembly elections. She did not get a ticket from any party, after which she decided to contest the elections as an independent candidate. She registered a big victory by defeating Congress candidate Ram Niwas Rara by more than 20,000 votes.
Savitri Jindal contested the election from Hisar assembly seat as an independent candidate. Earlier she had sought a ticket from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), but when she did not get the ticket, she decided to try her luck as an independent candidate. Her victory not only strengthens her personal reputation but also reflects her popularity among the people of Hisar.
Savitri Jindal is the chairperson emeritus of the Jindal Group and wife of the late industrialist Om Prakash (OP) Jindal. The Jindal Group is counted among the leading industrial groups in India, and Savitri took over the reins of the group after the death of her husband. OP Jindal died in a helicopter crash in 2005, after which Savitri handled the responsibilities of her family and business.
74-year-old Savitri Jindal has already been an MLA from Hisar Assembly twice and has also been a minister in the Haryana government. After the victory, Savitri Jindal posted a video on social media X and wrote, "All of you have fought this election, this victory is also yours. Hearty congratulations to my Hisar family for this victory."
She further said that her husband Om Prakash Jindal had shown her the way of responsibility towards Hisar and its development.
Savitri Jindal says that she will continue to serve the people of Hisar and will make every possible effort to maintain their trust. She has pledged to serve the development and change of Hisar, which makes it clear that her aim was not just to win the election, but she wants to do some concrete work for the people.
According to Forbes, Savitri Jindal had assets worth Rs 3.65 lakh crore as of September 2024. Her wealth and influence have made her an important figure not only in India but also internationally. The Jindal family has always served Hisar and Haryana, and their victory in this assembly election shows the continuity of this service.
After the death of OP Jindal, Savitri took over his industrial and political legacy. For 35 years of marriage, Savitri Jindal remained a housewife, but after the death of OP Jindal, she had a big challenge- to manage her husband's business and family. She accepted this challenge and not only took the Jindal Group forward but also laid a strong foundation for her family as well as her business.
Savitri Jindal has four sons and five daughters. Her son Naveen Jindal has himself been an MP and is playing an active role in business. During the Haryana elections, Naveen Jindal came to cast his vote riding a horse, honoring the legacy of his parents, which was a special sight.
