A hearing was held in the MP-MLA court of Sultanpur on Wednesday in the defamation case registered against Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Rae Bareli MP Rahul Gandhi. Statements of the plaintiff were recorded. Now the next hearing in this case will be on 17th October. Rahul Gandhi is on bail in this case since February 20. He had recorded his statement on 26th July. During Karnataka elections, he had given a statement regarding Home Minister Amit Shah. A case is going on regarding this.
Santosh Kumar Pandey, lawyer of plaintiff BJP leader Vijay Mishra, said, the statement of the plaintiff was recorded in the court on Wednesday. At the same time, Rahul Gandhi's lawyer Kashi Prasad Shukla said that Vijay Mishra presented evidence in the court. He cross-examined the plaintiff. Vijay Mishra had filed a defamation case against Rahul in the court in 2018.
He had alleged that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi made indecent remarks about Amit Shah in the Karnataka elections. He was hurt by this. In this matter, Rahul Gandhi had recorded his statement in the court on 26 July. He had declared himself innocent. Also said that a political conspiracy was being hatched against him. The court had granted him bail in June this year.
Last month, a court in Nashik district in Maharashtra issued summons to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. He is accused of making objectionable remarks against Veer Savarkar. Regarding this, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Nashik, Deepali Parimal Keduskar issued a notice to Rahul. It said that the statement made against a patriotic person appears to be defamatory.
The complainant has said that Rahul damaged the reputation of Savarkar through his speech and visual depictions. He did this deliberately. He tried to tarnish the image of Savarkar in the society.
