Can an electric geyser explode like an AC compressor? If ‘yes’ then know the reason

Electric geysers can also explode like AC compressors, but this happens very rarely. There is a possibility of a geyser bursting when there is some technical problem or the voltage suddenly increases. Only then is there a possibility of explosion in the electric geyser.

If you keep in mind the things mentioned here while using the electric geyser, then your geyser will never explode like the compressor of the air conditioner.

Temperature pressure valve (TPV) failure

The geyser has a safety valve which controls the temperature and pressure. If this valve does not work properly and the temperature of the water increases too much, the geyser may burst due to increase in pressure. Therefore, before using the geyser in winter, it should be serviced once by a good mechanic.

setting high temperature

If the temperature of the geyser is set too high and the safety system does not function properly, too much pressure can build up in the water, causing the geyser to burst. Therefore, you should maintain the temperature of the electric geyser as per the manual.

filth in water

Due to the minerals present in the water (like calcium and magnesium), dirt can accumulate inside the geyser. This dirt puts pressure on the heating element, which can disturb the temperature and pressure of the geyser and lead to an accident.

Fault in geyser element

Many times the element of an electric geyser gets faulty and it keeps heating water continuously when the power is turned on. In such a situation, the pressure in the geyser may increase and the geyser may burst. Therefore, whenever you get water from the geyser that is hotter than the set temperature, you should check it immediately.
