Pakistan team has suffered the most embarrassing defeat in the history of Test cricket at home itself. England cricket team defeated by an innings and 47 runs in Multan Test. This is the first time in 147 years of Test cricket that a team has lost by an innings after scoring more than 500 runs in the first innings. With this, England has taken a 1-0 lead in the 3-match series. Former cricketers and fans of Pakistan are shocked by this defeat. Meanwhile, it is also being claimed that Pakistan Cricket Board can take action against Test team captain Shan Masood and the captaincy can be taken away from him after the series.

Uproar after defeat

It has been 1331 days since Pakistan cricket team won any test match at home. This team has not won any home test match since March 2022. During this period the team played 11 matches, in which it did not win any of them. Whereas after Shan Masood got the captaincy of the Test team, Pakistan has lost 6 consecutive matches. His beginning itself was very bad. On his very first tour as captain, he lost to Australia in 3 matches.

After that, under his captaincy, Bangladesh team defeated Pakistan 2-0 at their home. Now his team has also lost to England. This has created panic throughout Pakistan. The team's performance has gone from bad to worse under his captaincy. Meanwhile, Pakistani media has reported that Shan Masood himself may resign from the captaincy after the series. If he does not do this then PCB can remove him from the captaincy.

Pakistan made many shameful records

Captain Shan Masood looked completely helpless in the Multan Test. Multan's pitch proved to be a graveyard for their bowlers. England scored 823 runs in the first innings. This became the fourth highest score in the history of Test cricket and the third highest score for England. Not only this, this is also England's highest score against Pakistan so far. Before this, in the year 2022, England had scored the maximum of 657 runs in an innings against Pakistan.

Apart from this, Joe Root and Harry Brook made a partnership of 454 runs and broke the 67 year old record. This is the biggest partnership of any country against Pakistan. In 1958, West Indies' Conrad Hunte and Gary Sobers added 446 runs against Pakistan in Kingston. This happened only for the third time during the Multan Test when in this format, two batsmen of a team scored more than 250 runs in the same innings.
