The first Test match between India and New Zealand is held at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The start of the Test match has been delayed due to rain, and things don’t seem good for this match.
India will want to maintain their dominance at home to further establish their dominance in the World Test Championship after defeating Bangladesh. They want to make it to the World T20 Championship for the third time in a row, and Virat Kohli has to be at the top of his game to do that. The 35-year-old is about to set yet another Bengaluru Test record. In Test cricket, Virat needs only 53 more runs to join the 9000 club.
If he succeeds, he would join Sunil Gavaskar, Rahul Dravid, and Sachin Tendulkar as the fourth hitter to be included on this prestigious list. With 15921 runs, Tendulkar leads the all-time list of Test run scorers and leads all Indian scorers.
Gavaskar is ranked third on the list, while Dravid is ranked second. Prior to the Australia Tour, Virat is keen to go back to his best since he hasn’t had the greatest experience playing red ball cricket in a few years.
India’s planned five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, which begins in November, promises to be a tough test for the team. In addition, Virat may amass 1000 Test runs against New Zealand, becoming only the third batsman to do so after Sachin and Dravid.
If India makes it to the summit match this time, they will try to improve on their record of losing to Australia and New Zealand in the previous WTC finals.
