IND vs NZ 1st Test Team India Record: This is India's third lowest score overall in Test matches.

IND vs NZ Team India Unwanted Test History Record: Star batsman Virat Kohli and a record five Indian batsmen were dismissed without opening their account in the first Test against New Zealand in Bengaluru on Thursday. India scored 46 runs in their first innings which is their lowest score in Test matches played at home. Their previous lowest score at home came against West Indies in Delhi in 1987 when they were all out for 75 runs. This is India's third lowest in Test matches overall. 36 against Australia in Adelaide in 2020 and 42 against England at Lord's in 1974 are at first and second place.

India being all out for 46 runs is the lowest total by any team in Asia. The previous record in Asia was 53 all out. Earlier in 1986, West Indies was all out for this score against Pakistan in Faisalabad, while in 2002, Pakistan was all out for this score against Australia in Sharjah. This is the lowest score by any team in a Test against New Zealand. The previous record was held by Zimbabwe which was all out for 51 runs in Napier in 2012.

India have had three scores below 46 in men's Tests after electing to bat first. Five Indian batsmen got out for ducks in Bengaluru and all of them were in the top eight. This is only the second time five batsmen from the top eight have returned for ducks in a Test innings. The last occasion was in 1888 when Australia's innings collapsed against England in Manchester. India managed just 15 runs and lost seven wickets. That means the score went from 31 for 3 to 46 all out.

Only once before this did the Indian team add less runs than this for the last seven wickets in a Test innings. This occasion came in 2017 in the Pune Test against Australia, when only 11 runs were added for the last seven wickets. New Zealand fast bowler Matt Henry took 26 Tests to complete 100 wickets in Test cricket, this is the joint second fastest 100 wicket figure among New Zealand players. Richard Hadlee took 100 wickets in 25 matches, while Neil Wagner took 26 matches.

The last time this happened was in 2012 when the fast bowlers of the visiting team shared all the wickets in an innings of a Test against India, this too was done by New Zealand in Bangalore. Since 1988, it has happened seven times when the fast bowlers of the visiting team shared all the 10 wickets against India, out of which New Zealand alone has done this five times.
