On this day, October 18, 2014, fans saw an exciting Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) and Mumbai Indians. In the IPL 2020 match, which took two Super Overs to pick a winner, everything went completely crazy.

Since the event began in 2008, this was the first time something like this had happened. After a very close game, Punjab beat the team led by Rohit Sharma on the third-to-last ball of the second super over. For his important 77-run knock, Punjab starter KL Rahul was named Player of the Match.

At the Dubai International Stadium, the famous IPL match took place. The Mumbai Indians won the toss and chose to bat first. Mumbai had trouble with the bat and lost wickets quickly.

Suryakumar Yadav was out for a duck, and Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan both failed to score more than 10 runs. For Mumbai, Quinton de Kock led the way with an impressive fifty that included three fours and as many sixes.

Kieron Pollard added to the score with a quick 34 off 12 balls. The 176 runs that Mumbai scored were thanks to his great play.

KL Rahul led Punjab’s run chase with a 77 off of 51 balls. Seven of his hits were limits, and three of them were maximums. But things began to go wrong as Jasprit Bumrah and Rahul Chahar slowly got used to the game.

They took five wickets between them to keep Punjab from scoring more than 176 runs.

In the next over, the Super Over, KL Rahul and Nicholas Pooran were in charge of Punjab’s hit. It was a great read by Jasprit Bumrah, who took two wickets and gave up five runs.

Mumbai Indians looked like they were going to easily win because they had to chase down a pretty low score. That’s exactly when Mohammad Shami showed how great he was. When he faced Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock, Shami limited the two of them to just one run each.

Because of a run-out on the last ball, the game would need another Super Over to decide the winner.

When it was time for the second Super Over, Mumbai sent out Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard to lead the attack. They helped Mumbai score 11 runs even though they lost a man.

During the run chase, Chris Gayle, a star from the West Indies, came out to help Punjab win. Faced with Trent Boult, he hit one six and two fours to seal the win.
