Richa Ghosh, India's wicketkeeper-batter, is all set to miss India's forthcoming ODI series against New Zealand to appear for her class 12 board examination. It is pertinent to note that Ghosh, 21, has been representing India internationally since 2020 when she was 16 years old.

Richa's name was missing from India's squad for their three-match ODI series in Ahmedabad with matches set to be played on October 24, 27 and 29. The Indian team will be led by Harmanpreet Kaur whose captaincy has come under scrutiny after India's earliest exit in the Women's T20 World Cup since 2016. Their loss against New Zealand in their opening group-stage match came back to haunt them as they failed to secure a place in the knockouts, also losing to Australia in their last league match.

India handed maiden ODI call-ups for pace-bowling options who can chip in with the bat Sayali Satghare, Saima Thakor while also including Priya Mishra and Tejal Hasabnis for the first time in an India squad. In an official release, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said that spinner Asha Sobhana will not be available for selection because of injury. Meanwhile, all-rounder Pooja Vastrakar was rested.
