In an interview, Karthik Subbaraj—who most recently worked on Suriya 44—talked about how he first pitched Superstar Rajinikanth with the concepts for Jigarthanda DoubleX and Mahaan.

Will Rajinikanth be contributing to Jigarthanda DoubleX?
The filmmaker said, “I had initially pitched the idea of Jigarthanda DoubleX after Petta, but it was at a very basic level,” in a conversation with the YouTube channel SS Music. He questioned me about why I hadn’t told him the tale after seeing the movie. In response, he said, “I already told him about it, but it didn’t develop to such a degree back then.”

The filmmaker also disclosed how he told the celebrity the tale of Chiyaan Vikram’s film Mahaan. “I go and tell him whenever I get a basic idea, but I think next time I should be completely ready when I pitch it to him,” he said.

Concerning Mahaan and Jigarthandan Double X

For the uninitiated, Karthik Subbaraj received positive reviews for Jigarthand DoubleX and Mahaan from all Tamil movie enthusiasts. The film, starring Chiyaan Vikram, tells the tale of a teacher who rises up the ranks to become a booze baron at the expense of his family.

Along with actors Simran, Bobby Simha, Sananth, Vettai Muthukumar, Deepak Paramesh, and many more in important parts, the film also had Dhruv Vikram in the main role.

Jigarthanda The 2014 film Jigarthanda, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, has a prequel called DoubleX. SJ Suryah and Raghava Lawrence play the key characters in the movie. The plot centers on an aspirant police officer who gets set up, and his only means of getting out is by taking down a local mob boss under the guise of a film director.
