Coronation Street is set to captivate audiences next week with a series of dramatic storylines.

Next week's spoilers reveal the mystery behind DS Lisa Swain's injury, which has been causing concern among viewers. In another twist on the cobbles, Jesse Chadwick will leave the Platts reeling as he delivers a significant revelation to the family.

Elsewhere, in the upcoming episodes of the ITV soap, one character will feel a sense of betrayal when his supposed friend makes advances towards his ex-girlfriend. Here are the major storylines to look forward to in next week's Coronation Street....

DS Swain injury exposed

Only recently on the cobbles, DS Swain, played by Vicky Myers, sparked concern amongst viewers as she was seen struggling with an injury and almost throwing up amid the Joel Deering (Calum Lill) murder whodunnit.

And next week's spoilers see DS Swain's mystery both exposed and explained. In upcoming scenes, DS Swain's daughter Betsy, played by Sydney Martin, walks into the bathroom and sees Lisa's bruises but she is not convinced about her excuse of doing it at a body combat class.

Meanwhile, things take a worrying turn when Betsy finds a bottle of painkillers dated September 28. She tells Mason Radcliffe, played by Luca Toolan, and is shocked when he says Joel was killed on that date. Later, Betsy is more shaken when Daisy Midgeley, played by Charlotte Jordan, mentions Joel was in a fight on the night he was killed.

Elsewhere, it looks as though Carla Connor, played by Alison King, could be hiding something too as Ryan Connor, played by Ryan Prescott, questions whether Carla's been honest about her own movements on the night in question to which she insists she nipped out to switch off the factory lights.

Later in the week, Lisa lies to Betsy, making out her bruises were the result of an office injury. Meanwhile, Carla admits to Bobby Crawford that on the night of Joel's murder, she nipped to the factory, but she told the police she was at home all evening with him and Ryan.

Elsewhere, there is another tender moment between DS Swain and Carla as the latter praises the police officer for her work and juggling motherhood. But as Carla lays a comforting hand on her, Lisa flinches and makes a swift exit, leaving Carla gutted. Later in the week, DS Swain is furious to learn someone has made a formal complaint against her at the station and she accuses Daisy and fellow officer Kit Green.

Platt family bombshell

Next week sees the Platt family rally around Gail Platt's (Helen Worth), hospital bedside following her collapse while tensions are high as David Platt, played by Jack P Shepherd, feels that he is responsible due to causing a family argument prior to his mum's hospital dash.

When Jesse Chadwick, played by John Thomson, questions David on his guilt amid the latter hiding something, he snaps at him. Meanwhile, when Shona Platt, played by Julia Goulding, reveals that Jesse has gone back to the house alone, David is left panicking. What is he hiding and what will Jesse discover?

Elsewhere, Sarah Platt, played by Tina O'Brien, receives a prison call from ex Damon Hay, played by Ciaran Griffiths, who explains that while his missing money has got him a beating, he's shifted the blame for the theft of the money onto one of his brother's associates, leaving them all in the clear. However, a relieved Sarah is soon heartbroken when Damon says they must cut all contact.

Later, Sarah informs Jesse that Damon's confirmed she's off the hook amid the missing money drama and apologises for ever suspecting him of taking the cash. However, it's not long until Jesse has an announcement which will stun the Platt family... what is it?

Cobbles betrayal

Next week sees Ryan moan to Kit over a pint that he was right to dump Daisy but he still misses her amid their tumultuous on-off romance. As Ryan lists everything Daisy expects from a partner, he's unaware that a scheming Kit is making mental notes.

Later, Daisy is both taken aback and delighted when Kit lays out her favourite chocolates and makes out he's addicted to watching Real Housewives. This leaves Kit delighted as he realises his inside information is working.

By the end of the week, Kit is at it again when Ryan lets slip that Daisy's favourite film is The Holiday to which the police officer makes a mental note and suggests watching it to Daisy to mark his last night staying at the pub. However, in true soap style, as Kit flirts with Daisy, Ryan's shocked to hear of his betrayal and confronts Kit. How will he react?

Coronation Street continues on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on both ITV and ITV X.
