But many times people also fall prey to fraud because of these offers and discounts. Fraudsters who commit cyber fraud in the name of Diwali offers and discounts make people their victims.
To avoid digital fraud on the occasion of Diwali, NPCI has given 5 such tips, by which you can avoid fraud.
1. Do not rush to shop
Many times people become victims of fraud while shopping in a hurry. In the greed of discounts and offers, many people do not even check whether the platform from which they are shopping is legitimate or not. Shopping should be done only from legitimate platforms.
2. Avoid giving out personal information
No matter how tempting the offers are, you should avoid sharing your personal information because your data can be misused.
3. Avoid using unsecured networks
Many people start shopping using unsecured open Wi-Fi networks at places like bus stops, shopping malls. But doing this can be dangerous for you. Because hackers can commit fraud by obtaining your information.
4. Beware of phishing scams
Many times people shop so much that they forget what they have ordered. In such a situation, they click on fake delivery links. Due to which people can fall prey to phishing scams. Therefore, before clicking on any link, gather proper information. Also, instead of clicking on the link, it is better to check the status of the order from the same platform from where you are ordering.
5. Strong password is important
Many people use default or simple passwords. Due to which hackers easily target you and commit fraud. Therefore, to avoid such frauds, it is important to use a strong password.
