Oct. 25 in Patna Cyclonic Storm Dana hit land in Odisha. It is now having an effect on the states nearby, Bihar and Jharkhand. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned people to expect heavy rain and strong winds in those areas.

At 5:30 a.m. on October 25, Dana hit the northern coast of Odisha. It had an impact on places 20 km north-northwest of Dhamara and 40 km from Hablikhati Nature Camp near Bhitarkanika.

Bihar is already seeing a change in the weather as Dana comes inward. There are clouds in more than 34 districts, and temperatures are dropping by 1 to 6 degrees Celsius.

Bihar should start to feel the effects of the storm on Friday afternoon. These effects will include rain and wind. IMD thinks that Dana will weaken into a storm by October 25 afternoon, as the back part of the cyclone moves over land. There have also been reports of landslides in areas hit by the storm.

People in Bihar and Jharkhand should be careful because the storm could cause floods, traffic problems, and power cuts in some areas.

Cyclone Dana is expected to bring rain and storms to large parts of Bihar. The storms will be strongest on Friday and Saturday.

It’s going to rain in eastern, south-central, and eastern Bihar on Friday, October 25. The Kosi and Seemanchal districts are expected to get the greatest rain. 24 districts, such as Buxar, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Gaya, Arwal, Bhojpur, Nalanda, Jehanabad, Nawada, Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura, Begusarai, Khagaria, Munger, Banka, Jamui, Saharsa, Madhepura, Purnia, Katihar, Araria, Kishanganj, Supaul, and Patna, are expected to get rain with thunderstorms and winds of 20 to 40 km/h.

On Saturday, October 26, Dana’s effects will still be felt, and it will rain in northeast, north-central, and south Bihar. Thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds are expected in these places, and officials are telling people to be careful.

People have been told to stay inside during thunderstorms and not stand under trees or near buildings that might fall down in high winds.

The storm is expected to get weaker as it moves across land, so the rain and winds should slowly stop by the end of the weekend.
