Amidst the increasing violence by Taliban in Pakistan, terrorists have once again targeted policemen. Ten policemen were shot dead near the Afghan border on Friday. Seven other soldiers have been injured. Information about this incident has come out quoting police sources.

Islamic terrorist group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for Thursday's attack. The attack comes as Pakistan grapples with a resurgence of terrorist attacks in its northwest as well as an ethnic separatist insurgency in the south.

Terrorists attacked security forces

Confirming the attack on condition of anonymity, three senior police sources said that a large group of terrorists attacked the post and killed members of the Frontier Constabulary Security Force.

Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, chief minister of the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, confirmed the attack in a statement on Friday, in which he condemned it but did not give a death toll.

The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) group claimed responsibility and said in a statement that the attack was revenge for the killing of a senior leader, Ustad Qureshi.
The Pakistani army said in a statement on Thursday that Qureshi was one of nine people killed in an intelligence-based operation in Bajaur district, bordering Afghanistan. Two suicide bombers were also involved in this.

More attacks are happening after Taliban capture

Islamabad says the TTP uses Afghanistan as a base and says the ruling Taliban administration has provided the group with safe haven close to the border. The Taliban denies this.

The number of such attacks in Pakistan has been increasing since the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021. Pakistani terrorists of Taliban have carried out attacks mostly targeting security forces. Even before this, terrorists have regularly targeted the police in this area. Earlier in August, terrorists had attacked a police team with a rocket in Pakistan's Punjab province. At least 11 policemen were killed in this attack. The terrorists had also taken many policemen hostage. According to reports, the attack on the police vehicle took place when the police van got stuck on a muddy road.
