In the same way, the Madurai District Collector has told all schools that they will be closed.

All public, private, and supported schools in the Theni District have also been given the day off.

The RMC also said that it would rain in the Kanyakumari, Virudhunagar, Sivagangai, Ramanathapuram, and Tirunelveli areas.

Heavy rains on Wednesday and Thursday caused major floods in Sellur.

The Panthalkudi canal, which takes extra water from the Sellur tank to the Vaigai River, broke its walls several times, flooding a large part of the area.

The 2.6 km river that runs through the city is full right now.
