The Fable, starring Manoj Bajpayee and directed by Raam Reddy, won the Special Jury Prize in the South Asia Competition at the 2024 MAMI Mumbai Film Festival. Kabir Khan, another filmmaker, said that the movie, which had its Asian premiere last week at MAMI, was “polished and imaginative” and showed how ambitious Reddy is as a director.

Raam Reddy couldn’t make it to MAMI’s closing event because he is in Spain at another film festival, but his father, director Pratap Reddy, took the award on their behalf. He read from an emotional message of thanks: “We thank MAMI for giving us the chance to show our film at such an inspiring festival.” Many problems had to be solved by our team who worked from the heart to make this dream come true. We are deeply honored and thankful for this praise. Reddy talked about his win and said, “Winning the same award with Thithi in 2015 and now coming back with The Fable feels like a beautiful full circle.” The real prize was the audience’s reaction, not the award itself.

For Manoj Bajpayee, working on the movie was “transformative,” and he said, “The story’s quiet complexity challenged me as an actor.” Even though the outbreak caused problems, our team’s faith in Raam’s mission kept us going. This award shows how far they’ve come.

“We’re incredibly proud of The Fable,” said Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain, executive producers of Sikhya Entertainment, in response to the news. This award shows how hard the whole team worked, how passionate they were, and how strong they were. We want to support unique stories that break the rules here at Sikhya, and “The Fable” is a great example of that.

Priyanka Bose, Deepak Dobriyal, Tillotama Shome, Hiral Sidhu, and Awan Pookot all give great turns in the movie as well. After a great start at MAMI, The Fable will continue its festival tour. On October 25th and 26th, it will be shown at SEMINCI in Spain. It will also be shown at the MOSTRA festival in Brazil from October 17th to 20th. In November, it will be shown at the 3 Continents Festival in France, the Leeds International Film Festival, and the Cork International Film Festival in Ireland.
